Essential MTB Skills
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes Cost: £50 (discounts available for members of cycling clubs) Variations available: Mixed groups, ladies only or kids
We start by setting you up with your bike, checking it, making sure it is set up right for you and the principles of making adjustments to suit you. We will also go through essentials to carry with you on a ride.
Body position. Where you put your body in relation to your bike influences so many things, but most fundamentally, where your bike goes. From there we work on:
– cornering
– ascending
– descending
– small obstacles.
Trail Skills
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes Cost: £50 (discounts available for members of cycling clubs) Variations available: Mixed groups, ladies only or kids
In Trail Skills we build on the basics from our Essentials course and take them further. We recap body position and use it to learn how to deal with the most common trail features, such as front wheel lifts, rear wheel lifts, tight cornering, steep ascending and steep descending.
We will also look at small jumps and small drops.
Advanced Trail Skills – Flow – Course
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes Cost: £50 (discounts available for members of cycling clubs) Variations available: Mixed groups, ladies only or kids
Make your riding smoother, faster and easier! We will teach you how to combine line choice with body position and pumping the trail to get free speed, extra grip and flow in your riding.
The Obstacle Course
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes Cost: £50 (discounts available for members of cycling clubs) Variations available: Mixed groups, ladies only or kids
This course works on building up confidence using some custom made equipment. We look at dealing with ruts, jumps and drops. For each obstacle type, the equipment builds up in progressive stages, allowing you to nail the technique and gain confidence, before trying large versions.
Technical Cross Country Riding in rough terrain
Duration: 4 hours Cost: £60 (discounts available for members of cycling clubs) Variations available: Mixed groups, ladies only or kids
This course deals with more technical terrain, such as rocky descents and ascents, water crossings and faster trails. It is great preparation for riding in areas of the UK such as the Peak District, Dartmoor, Exmoor, the Lake District or Snowdonia.
The course is delivered on a ride in rough terrain, covering all aspects of such a ride.
