New Gravel course – Get Riding Anywhere course

We’ve got a new course in a new genre of cycling – gravel cycling!

Well we say new, but honestly gravel riding is more like the original cycling – just riding your bike wherever you like. Many kids learn to ride everywhere – roads, cycle paths, gravel tracks, bridleways, towpaths – anywhere the whim takes them and that’s basically what gravel riding is.

So this course is to get you riding anywhere, comfortably and safely and able to enjoy it to the fullest. We will cover:

  • Setting up your bike – making it comfortable and efficient for you
  • What to take with you – tools, spares, food and drinks
  • Riding on roads – we will cover road safety and how to get confident and comfortable riding with traffic
  • Riding on other surfaces – how to tackle different surfaces like gravel, grass, bumpy trails and dirt. You will learn cornering, ascending and descending, as well as small trail obstacles
  • Trailside maintenance – how to fix things that go wrong on your bike while you’re out, so that you can get home. Things such as punctures, broken chains and things coming loose on (or snapping off!) your bike

You can use any bike for this course, as long as it doesn’t have slick tyres. Gravel bike, MTB, hybrid or even a road bike with some gravel tyres are all fine.

This is a one day course will be hosted at the Croft MTB Trail and costs  £100 per person (discounts are available for cycling club members). This course is open to all over 16 year olds.
